Identity and the City at Excelsior Academy

In the summer term of 2016, students from Hadrian and Milburn schools worked with poet Bob Beagrie, rapper and MC Fred Phethean, otherwise known as Drop Dead Fred, and director Ruth Johnson to explore a sense of place, their identity in the city and the connections between the two.

The groups worked with Project Coordinator Emily Wiseman to produce two films, Blanks, and Stressed Out and an anthology of poetry called ‘Invisible Cities’, as well as rewriting the lyrics to the song We are Young, and delivering a number of performances.

You can watch the film Blanks here.
