Join a Cuckoo Young Writers group

Have you ever dreamed of being a writer? Think you might be the next John Green or Suzanne Collins? Or maybe you’d like to have a go at poetry, scriptwriting, songwriting or reviewing?

Whether you’ve already got a novel on your memory stick or are looking for a bit of inspiration to give your writing a kick-start, our Cuckoo Young Writers’ groups are the thing you’ve been looking for. Held weekly in term time, they offer young writers aged 12-19 a chance to share their work, learn new skills, and give and receive feedback in a creative and supportive atmosphere.

All sessions are led by a professional writer and a group leader, and are free to attend. They’re also the place to find out about all the other exciting opportunities for young writers in the North.

Cuckoo Young Writers and [Song] Writers groups are back on 29 April in all the usual locations, every Saturday in term time!

If you are doing Arts Award…

You could use our Cuckoo Young Writers groups and projects offer opportunities to try out a totally new art form or to extend the skills you already have, through trying out a new form or genre of writing. Our groups often produce zines, pamphlets or put on performances which make excellent Arts Award evidence.
