The Sea of Tranquility by Hannah Johnson

The Eagle has landed
on the Sea of Tranquillity.
You step onto no man’s land,
onto ghosts territory.
Powdered charcoal shocked
by disturbance.
The wind holding its breath
at the intrusion,
leaving the stars and stripes
to stand forever proud.
The suffocating silence
makes the panic of inevitable death
echo across the planet.
You could die at any minute,
but would that be such a bad thing?
Turning around
you hold Planet Earth
between your thumb and forefinger.
One small step for man,
One giant leap for mankind.

Rest in peace Neil Armstrong. We will always celebrate your life
